outline
TOKYO MADRID
is a research project on urban public space and the modes of living
that are developed in it. The project is to be carried out by students,
instructors and professionals of architecture in Tokyo and Madrid.
Both cities represent different urban models but with a shared characteristic:
the life of their inhabitants unfolds in public spaces. The comparative
study of the two large cities under the common context of the globalization
offers an opportunity to document and to redefine the relationship
between public space and the increasing diversity of urban ways of
life.
